Accessibility Statement

The cottage is a mid terrace with stone walls and stone roof built around 1650 on a hillside. It has a front garden largely enclosed by hedges 1.40m high with an access gate from the path onto the patio which is 0.90m wide and 0.60m high.

At the end of the garden is a wall 0.50cm high with plastic covered wire trellis on top but beware that over the wall, there is a 3m drop to the pavement below.

At the rear of the property there is a small rear courtyard with access from the back door. Access is permitted through the 3 small gates to the track which leads up the side of the Wainhouse Tavern.

Car Parking

Car parking is available on the residential roads called Upper Washer Lane and Edwards Road in front of the cottage, but we advise guests to park on the wider part of Edwards Road.

There is a green gate shared with 64 with a latch, leading to a divided path. 66 is accessed by the left steps, 11 in total which includes a bend and section of stone path which may be slippery in wet/icy weather. A key box with large buttons is positioned to the outer left wall of the porch of the black front door.

The 84 cm wide front door leads into the sitting/dining room. This room is 5 metres x 4.8 meters with a Karndean wood laminate style floor and large rug. There is a gas fire. The 3 seater faux leather sofa is 43cms from the floor and the leather/fabric tub chair is 45cm from the floor. The 40″ SMART TV is connected to Freeview and has subtitles and Apps. Wifi is provided. The dining table has 2 extendable leaves and 4 chairs but one is usually at the desk on the landing and the other is in the bedroom. The ceiling height is not at all restrictive by the ceiling beams and varies from 2.4 to 2.5 metres. The door to the cellar is only 1.6m high and 0.6m wide. The door to the tiny hallway is standard size. 2 irregular shaped steps lead up to the kitchen door which is 1.76m high.

Kitchen

The kitchen has a high vaulted ceiling in part with a roof light. The kitchen is 3.5m long and 2.6m wide including a solid oak worktop. The oven and hob are electric. The floor is Karndean slate laminate. The rear door is 74 cms wide and leads to a paved courtyard via a single step with a  washing line.

Stairs

The 11 stairs are steep with a general tread height of 21cm although the top step is 25cm and is 2cm narrower than the others. A wooden hand rail is on the left wall. At the upper right part of the stairs are wooden banisters. The floor is carpet up the stairs, landing and bedroom.

The stairs lead to an open landing area with 2 doors and a high window. There is a desk and chair and loft access.

Bathroom

The bathroom door is 79 cms wide and 1.95m high. The bathroom is irregular in shape and is 2.1m long and 1.8m wide at the widest point. It has a porcelain tiled floor and wall tiles with a small step to the WC. The bath is 180 cm x 70 cm widening to 85cm with an overhead shower at one end and a safety glass shower screen. The basin measures 60 cm x 45cm and is 80 cm from the floor. The WC has a seat height of 40cm. There is a radiator/ towel rail on the gas CH circuit. A cupboard houses a washer/dryer. The gas central heating combination boiler is in a separate cupboard adjacent to the WC.

Bedroom

The bedroom is 4m wide and 3.5m long from door to window. The room height is 2.4m. The super king size zip and link bed is 2m long and 1.8m wide but can be configured as 2 singles also. The decorative fireplace has a fitted wardrobe and drawers to its left and there is another freestanding chest of drawers and 2 bedside cabinets.

The website browser lets you increase the font size. Written material can be provided in large print on request. Pages and fonts have been designed for ease of reading. There is an accessibility button. There is a direct link button to contact us, including home telephone number, mobile telephone number for text messages and e-mail address. There are buttons for links to Facebook and Twitter. A google map shows our location. There is an availability button with prices which are also colour coded.

Directions and parking instructions and key code access are provided by email or letter before arrival, after the final balance has been paid.
