Gentleman Jack hits BBC1

Wasn’t Suranne Jones amazing? We particularly enjoyed trying to identify the Calderdale filming locations and although we knew the cameras had been up Wakefield Gate just 200m along the road from us, we never expected it to form the opening scenes.

Can’t wait till next Sunday for episode 2.

Sally Wainwright is an amazing writer, producer and director and this link shows how committed she has been to her work.

Gentleman Jack starts in 4 days!!

Anne Lister lived an unconventional life in the early 19th century in Shibden Hall, just 4 miles from Dyer’s Cottage. She wrote many secret diaries in code which were only transcribed in the 1980’s and from these, Sally Wainwright has written an amazing drama called Gentleman Jack.

Don’t miss it! The cameras were filming last summer in many locations in Calderdale which still look like they did in the 1830’s including Wakefield Gate just along the road.
